Wrong perceptions about democracy

Democracy just describes a procedure by which a government is constituted: by a more or less direct vote of a large number of people. The government thus constituted may or may not install or preserve a high degree of personal freedom for its people.

Hitler was elected in a democratic process, and Iran has democracy. In either case, it neither means that the elected government allowed or allows a high degree of personal freedom, nor that, for that matter, it has been or is beneficial for those who have elected it.

In most countries of the world, the average voter is not capable of comprehending what political powers will do him good. And anyway, most people would not vote for political powers that would do them good, even if they could identify them. Rather, people vote for political powers of which they believe that they will be even worse for those with whom they have scores to settle than they will be for themselves.

It's the most basic recipe of populism: play the resentments of a large number of rather uneducated people, and they will vote for you. This is the appeal of campaigning on a wave of hatred towards minorities (as Hitler did in Germany). It's also the appeal of campaigning on a wave of envy towards a country's upper classes, or on a wave of jealousy towards those who are in a position to enjoy life better than the average voter.

The implementation of direct-vote democracy in poor Third World countries often leads to chaos, and sometimes to failed states and civil war. There seldom is legislative efficiency, but if there are legislative stalemates, the most likely laws to be passed anyway are those that target minorities, restrict personal freedom, and satisfy the envy of a large number of people.

Anti-sexual legislation is an example. When the majority of poor people have the say, then the possibly libertine lifestyle of richer people will be criminalized not so much because it would contradict the religion of the land, but because those who can't have it themselves are in no mood to grant it to others. A good number of people who cannot enjoy a libertine lifestyle may even turn religious not because of a genuine conviction of the truth of a religion but because certain religions provide a natural home for those who want the worst for those who can enjoy what they themselves can't. Direct elections may work in the US where the ethnic origins of the voting population are so diverse and melted together in such a degree that these origins become irrelevant. Compared to countries especially in Africa and Asia, there are, in the US, few regional or ethnic loyalties. Californians will not necessarily vote for Californians, and Americans of German origin won't vote for candidates of German origin, but Hutus will definitely vote for Hutus and Tamils for Tamils. There is no crossing of ethnic lines. Furthermore, in Iraq Shiites vote for Shiites and Sunnis for Sunnis. Anyway you turn it in such countries, direct democracy is a recipe for disintegration. This is the case because ethnic politicians who exploit ethnic or religious hatred will be elected, and not those who play a tune of interethnic understanding.

There are alternatives, such as indirect democracies in which rather small groups of people elect delegates who then elect either legislative and executive leaders, or, even better, who then elect again a group of delegates who elect legislative and executive leaders (three tiers).

Neighborhoods can elect delegates who elect city delegates; city delegates then elect legislative delegates, and legislative delegates elect executives. Such a system will strongly reduce the window for populism. In such a system, there is much more incentive to make everything work, and to do so by means of compromise. There is also more incentive to maintain a level of personal freedom that can be enjoyed by those who likely have the means: the delegate class (let this be many thousands; the more the better).

This form of democracy can be further sophisticated by integrating delegates from outside political parties - a system Suharto skilfully established in Indonesia to achieve stability for more than 30 years; delegates in Suharto's Indonesia were not only from political parties but included traditional ethnic leaders and delegates from religions. Why not, in a modern country, have delegates from universities, the industry, labor unions, and environmental protection groups?

Even though the Suharto era in Indonesia was a dictatorship, and even though Suharto started out as a general, Suharto's power wasn't based on having troops. It was based on a sophisticated integration of many quarters of society. Suharto also did not end like Gaddafi.

The US has a vital interest in promoting its own brand of democracy. For it's strongly destabilizing in many parts of the world, and thus undermines the potential strength of other countries.

But the US realizes that promoting democracy just anywhere isn't in their interest. A democratically elected Islamist government in nuclear weapon-equipped Pakistan would be a nightmare, and from Algeria to Saudi Arabia , the US are better off with what there is now than with what they would get with democracy.

Large segments of the local populations of these countries are thankful. The dictatorships protect them from the potential ill effects of their own envy-based voting attitudes, and anyway, who wants to follow strict religious regulations is free to do so.

Why Democracy Is Not Freedom

The disadvantages of direct-vote democracy

The purpose of government is not to have been democratically elected. Good government should represent the interests of citizens. But democratically elected governments do often not achieve this. Take, for example, directly elected populist presidents.

A democratic system in which presidents are elected directly often does not produce rational results that represent the interests of the electorate. To get elected, populist candidates appeal on emotions. The easiest emotions to address are envy and hate.

Populist candidates present clear pictures of enemies. They often are elected on the basis of what they oppose, not of what they support.

There are many variations, in which this tune can be played. It can be anti a certain ethnicity, anti foreign, anti a successful minority, anti other religions, anti immorality, anti liberty for others.

Such agendas typically are not in the best interest of those governed, because their appeal to the broad base of the electorate only lies in the assumption that only others will suffer from the hate policies, and that the individual supporter of a hate populist will not be affected.

That can be a dangerous error, because governments that are popular because of their opposition to certain "enemies" of society develop their own momentum. When they got rid of one enemy, they will need another one, and than another one, and another one. Such policies impossibly serve a society as a whole, and sooner or later, even the initial supporters of a populist will suffer.

Populist governments are a nuisance, or much worse, and anybody who can afford it is advised to get out of harm's way early enough.

To avoid "populist" governments, it is best not to have direct elections. A country's president should not be elected directly.

The most level-headed governments are obtained through indirect elections. The electorate chooses representatives. These representatives elect one of their members to sit in a regional body. The members of the regional body elect one or several of their peers to represent them in a national body. And the national body elects a chief executive.

Such indirect democracy is hard to manipulate by populists, and it will result in a government that represents a wide range of interests, not just the emotions of hate and envy of the lowest (and therefore widest) strata of a social pyramid.

The showbiz politics of direct presidential elections

The hallmark of US democracy is the direct election of the chief of government, who then concentrates a huge power in his hands for 4 years.

In this form of democracy, elections typically degenerate into a popularity contest. No wonder that show biz personalities have an edge.

Furthermore, the system favors populists over responsibility-driven characters.

It's a miserable system because it generally produces worse results than an indirect election would.

Indirect would mean: people elect their representatives, and these representatives again elect representatives who elect the chief of government.

Electorates, on average, are not very knowledgeable of the issues at stake, and actually, electorates in general are not intelligent. Typically, a large number of stupid people elect candidates who can best relate to stupid people.

This is the case more so in the Third World than in the Old World and the New World, as in the Third World, electorates are often composed of a large number of uneducated, and sometimes illiterate people. In direct elections, they vote along the lines they best understand. And these are ethnic and religious. Or they vote for candidates who can best address their envy and hate. It is much easier to unite a large number of people against a perceived common enemy, rather than behind a constructive agenda.

The result is ethnic and religious fragmentation, and policies that are not in the genuine interest of the people.

An indirect, representative system can avoid many of the pitfalls of the direct system. When villages or neighborhoods elect representatives among their midst, these are likely people of a good education with a track record of consensus building. If these representatives of neighborhoods and villages then elect a representative among themselves, one again get a group of representatives who have an even better track record of consensus building. And they could be the ones who elect a country's president.

Politics as entertainment: voting for change, anyway

An idealistic view of democracy is that people evaluate various options and then vote for what they consider most beneficial.

However, in reality, most people have a poor judgment, or no idea at all, of what is beneficial for them. If they are not captivated by populist politicians who exploit their envies and hatreds, then there is a good chance that they treat politics as entertainment. This is all the more pronounced the poorer a country, and the lower the level of general education. Entertainment, the opposite of boredom, is when there is variety, or change.

This is why in any direct democracy, the opposition always has an edge. People are bored, apart from being dissatisfied, and they vote for change just to have something new. To have value as entertainment, the opposition's proposals must not be better. They only have to be different.

Change, even when as total as in revolutions, often doesn't result in more freedom, certainly not personal freedom.

The French, Russian, and Chinese revolutions are historic examples. Personal freedom only increased after the revolutionary regimes had experienced continuity over a certain period of time. For continuity is more likely to allow people to carve out their spaces of personal freedom in a society. The rules are generally known, and people have adapted to them, and safety has been established for both the government and those governed.

That non-democratic regimes would, when they are in power long enough, allow people a higher degree of personal freedom than new democracies, or even revolutionary democracies, appears to most people to be an anachronism.

While democratic change usually isn't as violent as revolutionary change, and accompanied by fewer intrusions into personal freedom, democracy nevertheless is a conflict-oriented political system. And in order to be workable (and allow the continuity necessary not only for personal freedom, but also for economic progress), the political parties contesting democratic elections must not differ on fundamental issues, so that indeed, a change of power doesn't mean too much change in the society.

In the US, democracy is workable precisely because the main political parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, differ so little from each other that for the country's political ideology, it doesn't really matter who is in power.

Even in France, Britain, and Germany, there is so much political consensus between all "democratic" parties that by and large, it makes no difference who rules.

In "mature" democracies, there are numerous safeguards that political movements that advocate too much change will be muffled. This stretches from constitutional requirements on their programs to the gerrymandering of voting districts.

But when the US model of democracy was transferred to the Balkan, or, for that matter, the former Soviet Union, or to countries in Africa, or when it is transferred to Afghanistan, or Iraq, and even just to Indonesia, the political forces that appear will not just differ on formalities.

The political parties in newly democratic countries split, or will likely split, along much more fundamental fault lines (ethnicity, religion, regional independence).

However, the psychological mechanism by which people in democracies have a preference for change (just for its entertainment value), is at work as much in new democracies without safeguards against too much change as it is in established ones where change is a formality. The fact that people, when given the democratic choice, have, as a matter of human nature, an affinity for change, doesn't mean that change would be beneficial for them. People often realize this later. Even in countries that had such lousy governments as did many of the Eastern European and Soviet republics, you typically get, after a few years, an increasing number of people that would happily revert their previous vote for change. And, even more starkly, if you would, and could, offer people who voted in referendums for national independence the return to a previous colonial or occupied status, many would pick it.

Time and again, democratization has lead to quick disintegration of what previously were powerful players on the world stage, or at least within their regions. Reunification, on the other hand, is a tedious process (as exemplified by the slow progress by which the European Union is formed).

But the formation of ever small states, as they result from Third World democratization, usually is bad news for both political and personal freedom.

They are bad news for political freedom because the smaller a state the easier it is to invade for the world's current superpower when it does not agree with the political direction taken. Think Grenada.

Smaller countries are also often bad news for personal freedom. A national government that spans a wide area typically will have to integrate a large number of different lifestyles. It therefore is restricted by a large country's heterogeneity to declare local standards of one region the national law.

A partially Muslim, partially non-Muslim country is always more likely to have a more tolerant government than a country that is 100 percent Muslim. A government that rules over a population of mixed ethnicity will have to try to strike a balance, and impose it if it is truly a national government, or see ethnic strive, civil war, and disintegration.

While one can always find samples of small countries and large countries granting their citizens more or less personal freedom, it is important for a political ideology to have a position on whether it is in favor of large countries that encompass many different ethnicities, religions, and lifestyles, or in favor of an ever increasing number of small countries, resulting from the division of larger countries along ethnic or religious lines, or just reflecting zones of military might.

Even the granting of regional autonomy often is counterproductive for personal freedom.

For all the above reasons, when the question is of whether large countries or small countries are more likely to grant an optimum of personal freedom, the bet of public male strategies of Kreutz Ideology is on large countries.

And when the question is of whether direct democracy or less democracy (which still is some democracy) is better for an optimum of personal freedom, the bet of public male strategies of Kreutz Ideology is on less democracy.

The best alternative to US-style democracy is a system of indirect democracy which spans several layers.

Exploiting sexual jealousy in political careers

Sexual jealousy also is a much stronger feeling than matetial envy. In democracies, poor people can live with the wealth and even the tax trickery of rich candidates. But sex scandals reliably finish political careers.

In the politics of liberal democracies, and even in the activities of NGOs, targeting the sexuality of others is a sure recipe for attention and votes.

Most poor men in poor countries are monogamous .. rather out of necessity than choice. Therefore, laws that restrict the sexual relationships of rich men are popular with those who don't want others to have what they themselves anyway also cannot have.

And women in poor countries are generally in favor of laws and regulations that restrict sexual relationships of men.

The trend is implemented most easily in Islamic countries. It is also popular in countries where foreigners come for easy pickings.

When such a development takes off, those who can afford it go somewhere else, and take their money with them.

Men with money to spend and to invest will follow a trend to focus business activities on countries where there are easy or worthwhile sexual opportunities.

Malaysian investments in Cambodia are an example. And in Japan, in the early decades after World War II, companies set up mistresses for foreign business partners, thus luring them into focusing trade on that country.

Foreigner-bashing in Third World democracies

This refers to the then free local media and likely attitudes of local politicians, as well as a double standard in the application of laws.

In non-democratic countries, or in transitional countries that have had non-democratic leaderships for years and apparently move towards democracy, the Western media will always find foreign investors who blame the absence of democracy for their woes, whatever their woes are. By blaming the lack of democracy for their woes, foreign investors can present themselves as politically responsible businessmen, and, basically, as good, honest people.

Not that their woes would be resolved when democracy is installed. Rather, their will be many more new woes. It's just that under democracy, no foreign investor would say that he now has problems because of the installation of democracy. That would be politically very, very incorrect. Therefore, their complaint will be more differentiated, publicly avoiding the conclusion that democracy, that holy cow, is the cause.

But as a matter of fact, when poor Third World countries turn to democracy, things almost always turn worse for foreign investors.

Take Indonesia. When Suharto ruled, there always were some foreign investors who complained publicly that competition was distorted in favor of Suharto's protégés. But the more democratic Indonesia turned after Suharto, the more did foreign direct investment decline. Doesn't that indicate that foreign investors, while publicly acclaiming the installation of democracy, privately decided that democracy, after all, was not the better business climate.

In 2006, only half of the approved foreign investment actually pushed through. And at one point in 2005, the very democratically elected president SBY called on foreign investors to put their money where their mouths are. He accused the West to always talks democracy, but when it is installed, for example in Indonesia, to prefer to invest in other countries where there is no democracy. He obviously meant China.

By and large, foreign investors are right, to avoid newly installed democracies, and instead focus on China.

There is no doubt at all that for both the media and politicians, it is much easier to garner a following by addressing people's hatreds and envies, rather than anything constructive.

For politicians, playing the hatreds and envies of people translates into votes (which is why virtual unknowns with a fascist line can become political forces almost overnight), and for newspapers, it translates into sales.

A liberated media in a poor Third World country will play the emotions of hatred and envy. For some publications it will be do or die, and they will do, and survive very well.

Rich Western foreigners (actually, just ordinary Western foreigners which are perceived rich because of their ethnic background), or rich Western foreign companies will be on the receiving side. Never mind that Western foreigner companies pay double salaries.

And most of the buyers of trash papers that play to the anti-Western sentiment don't work for foreigners. And definitely, they enjoy seeing foreigners in trouble, which is why they buy the papers. And the reporting will be vicious and relentless, and no opportunity will be missed to conduct foreigner-bashing on the front-page.

In the Philippines, publications such as People's Journal would give coverage to any trouble of a foreigner. A household dispute of a foreigner with his Filipino wife? Excellent material. A good occasion to speculate about a brutal foreigner abusing a poor little Filipina. Never mind if there is no substance. Never mind if, for example, the conflict stemmed from the Filipina wife emptying the joined bank account. In newspaper reporting, the foreigner is always at the losing end.

In Indonesia a foreigner found with a few grams of marihuana could make national headlines and find his case, with photo and video footage, in the main evening news. And the arrest of a Western homosexual for allegedly having molested a 15-year old boy could linger in the local media for weeks and then even get reported extensively abroad. But Indonesia is a country of some 250 million people, and by all statistical likelihood, there are thousands of drug violations and homosexual acts on the same scale every day. It's just that they aren't juicy if they don't involve Western foreigners.

It's potentially the same for any conflict between the management and the workers in a foreign Western-owned company. The freed local media will always find interest in the case, blow it totally out of proportion, and put the fault with the foreigner. It's foreigner-bashing that sells papers and attracts viewers in newly democratic poor Third World countries.

The attitude of some politicians in newly installed democracies is quite similar, only that they eye votes, not sales. And while in the media, those papers will address hatred and envy that otherwise would not survive, it's usually not the established politicians who turn to foreigner-bashing but career startups who would otherwise nor find enough attention.

In addition to the bashing of Western foreigners in the newly liberated press and by politicians who seek attention and fame, you have a situation where any law will be applied on Western foreigners much more strictly than on locals, and even non-Western foreigners.

In a newly installed democracy, you will typically see a fury of law-passing activity. Often, such new laws are outlandishly strict because politicians are in a competition not to appear soft on crime, soft on immorality, soft on corruption, soft on the rich, and soft on Western foreigners breaking the law.

But while the police and judicial infrastructure may not be anywhere near the level required to actually implement the strict new laws, be sure that when a Western foreigner is involved, the law will be enforced as a matter of principle. Thus, in many newly democratic Third World countries, you have a legal two-tier system in which all laws surely apply when a Western foreigner or a Western-owned company is involved, while for locals, and even non-Western foreigners, the same laws are applied only on a by-chance basis.

Now, when this two-tier system involves sex, the double standard even gets potentiated. Take for example Cambodia with an endemic sexual child abuse and child prostitution problem. Even though by far the majority of perpetrators are locals, and even though local johns are much more likely to be AIDS-infected and not wear condoms, both the media and law enforcement concentrate almost exclusively on foreign customers.

In the case of Cambodia, this is exacerbated by the presence of Western child protection agencies which are not victim-orientated but perpetrator-orientated. They only target Western sex tourists because anyway, they have little knowledge of the local language and local attitudes.

Thus, a Western foreigner may get busted with a 15-year old prostitute while 20 meters away, a local man beats a 10 year old into sexual submission. This could happen in front of the Western child protection agent, and he wouldn't be able to judge the case (maybe it's a family dispute), and anyway, the local police would be indifferent.

It's not that poor Third World countries that have become democracies are poor choices just for Western foreigners with immoral and criminal intentions. Even if a Western foreign investor in a poor Third World democracy is as honest and law-abiding as ever possible, the potential still exists that he will get entangled in local laws and morality-related issues, simply because the local tabloid media needs such cases to boast sales.

Democracy not conducive to male sexual economics

What matters is to what degree a government interferes with personal freedom, and especially with sexual freedom.

A weak government is better than a strong government. A weak government is less likely to interfere with personal freedom.

People often think that democratically elected governments are weaker than dictatorial government, because in a democracy, so people assume, power is shared.

But in fact, dictatorial governments are often just occupied with stayinh in power, and do not interfere much with the lives of citizens.

On the other hand, many democratically elected governments are totalitarian. They assume total control over peoples lives.

Hitler was democratically elected, and his government was totalitarian to the extreme. Iran has democracy, and is totalitarian.

And the US is more totaliarian than Morocco.

To become totalitarian is an inherent tendency in Western democracies. Ever more things get regulated by law. And anything sexual is a prime target of the drive to regulate.

The mechanism is simple. People are interested in sex more than anything else. Anything sexual receives prime attention. Knowledge about anything sexual generates jealousy. Politicians playing sexual themes get most attention. It's their chance to get elected. In any population, people who are provided with information about sexuality of others, and who react with jealousy, will want this sexuality regulated out of existence.

Furthermore, any regulating of male sexuality wull enhence the value of sexuality as a female resource.

From a perspective of sexual economics, men can gain more than women from weak government. But even if it results in weak goverment, men have little to expect from democracy.

Structured representation instead of democracy

Furthermore, it is an illusion that when people are given the option to elect their national leaders directly, they would elect who stands for personal freedom. Instead, they will elect those of whom they believe that they will, to the highest degree, curtail the personal freedom of those they hate, and of those they feel envy for.

It is a fatal misconception to equate democracy with freedom. In the contrary, democracy tends to lead to social systems that are highly regulated and restrictive down to every-day details. This is the case because everybody who gets elected usually is so because he promises to regulate something that currently causes some people to have an advantage that is considered undue by those who cannot participate in the same advantage.

Sensible democracy must be multi-tired. A village or a neighborhood elects a representative. In one city or county, the village and neighborhood representatives elect among themselves a representative who will then participate in an election on the next higher level.

I assume that a realistic model would be: 500 to 1000 people at the base of society elect a lowest level representative. Approximately 200 of these representatives then elect representative among themselves. This person would then represent something between 100,000 and 200,000 people.

On the next level, 50 representatives would elect one representative, who would thus stand for 5 to 10 million people.

The rationale of such a system is to eliminate politicians who want to get elected on a populist platform. Populists thrive on opposing people, not on constructive ideas. They play on the emotion of people who, first of all, want that their enemies are worse off than they are themselves. Which is why populists never have a constructive agenda.

Personal freedom, dictators, and weak government

People often equate dictatorial government with a lot of government interference with their personal freedom. But the equation is illogical. Whether a dictatorial government interferes with personal freedom depends on whether the dictatorial government wants to interfere with the personal freedom of the people. As a matter of fact, dictatorial governments often don't care, as long as their rule isn't affected.

A government can come into existence via different routes. One of the possible routes is to be elected, more or less directly, by the people. This is what is called democracy. Whether this government later interferes with the personal freedom of the people or not has very little to do with the fact that it was established in a democratic way.

A democratic route of establishing a government often has lead, and leads, to governments that interfere to a high degree with the personal freedom of the people. Hitler was democratically elected. Saddam Hussein came to power in a democratic succession. The Iranian government is democratically elected. All of these governments have not been, and are not, dedicated to preserve or grant personal freedom.

The US is a democracy, but it also is the world's most advanced police state. Whether a country is a police state or not has nothing to do with the question of how a government came into power, whether democratically or by any other way. To characterize a country as a police state just means that the police have wide-ranging power over the lives of the country's citizens. And this is certainly the case in the US.

It doesn't really matter where the power of the police originates from. Whether it stems from power vested into the police by summary decree, or from a huge body of written legislation and regulations, as in the case of the US.

It's a common misconception anywhere in the world to equate "democracy" with "freedom". Democracy just means that a large number of largely incompetent voters are allowed to decide who should lead a government.

In the Philippines, largely incompetent voters often elect movie stars as president, senators, mayors, and even city councilors. Stupid Filipinos just vote for their favorite actors, and want to know nothing about the potential leader's political ideas.

In Indonesia, former dictator Suharto always enjoyed much backing from the female part of the population. Why? Because he was perceived as being good-looking.

In Islamic countries, when the people are called for to elect leaders in a democratic process, they vote for those candidates recommended by the prayer leaders in the mosques, because people are misguided into believing that it will give them credit with god.

Any in many poor and ethnically or religiously diverse countries, people just vote for candidates who promise to make life harder for the "others".

Skilled fascists have always had, and still have, a comparatively easy time to win elections, whether in Europe or Southeast Asia, as there is a fascist history of knowing the tricks. Preach hatred and hand out cheap gifts to a country's poor.

Often enough, democracy leads to bad government and a lot of interference personal freedom. If democracy leads to good government that allows people a high degree of personal freedom, it's not because the government was democratically elected but because incidentally, those who where elected were benevolent people.

Personal freedom is too high a value to entrust it to a popularity contest, or, for that matter, to democracy.

What are the alternatives?

One would be a powerful freedom-centered constitution. The best constitutions have often been imposed by victors after a country lost a major war. And this attitude does date back to Napoleonic times.

But the best constitution is only as good as a Supreme Court can guard it and a government wants it guarded. At the end of the day, the freedom of the people depends on those in power. If they are strong, the government itself may infringe on liberties. Better if governments are weak.

Plato, who felt contempt for governments established by a vote of unqualified people, recommended that benevolent philosopher kings hold power.

The concept of monarchies is outdated. But the essence is that government should be by an institution that is enlightened and benevolent.


A free media in Western or Westernized countries has a detrimental effect on the personal freedom, especially the sexual freedom, of men. Male sexuality is usually portrayed as negative, and associated with abuse. Female sexuality, on the other hand, appears positive, and even violent transgressions, such as the murder of a husband, receive a sympathy bonus long before details surface. The man must have been abusive! Serves him right! Because Western and Westernized free media is biased against men, curtailing a free media is a viable male public sexual strategy.

Destructive freedom of the press

At the same time, it is accepted wisdom in many parts of the world, except the US, that gun control goes a long way to improve the quality of a society.

But if disseminating words to a large audience is a more powerful weapon than firing bullets, why is their so little media control in the world today?

Actually, much of the communal or ethnic violence anywhere in the world is preceded by media coverage, which, often in between the lines, ferments communal and ethic hatred.

Tito contained it in Yugoslavia, and Suharto in Indonesia, and in both cases, controlling the media was instrumental.

Governments anywhere around the world better be not mislead by US rhetoric about press freedom.

The US promotes press freedom anywhere around the world not for lofty ethical concerns, but because it is intrinsically in their interest. Because press freedom, in most countries where it is implemented, destabilizes that country, and weakens it, it always favors the one country that wants to preserve its superpower status.

But the freedom of the press is not only negative on the political level where it is responsibility for mass murder and ethnic cleansing.

When the media takes interest in a person's private life, this often equates a violent assault. And while in many Western European countries (except the UK), the media refrains from intruding too shamelessly into the private lives of public personalities, there is no such restraint in Third World countries with press freedom. Even unsubstantiated rumors about a person's sexual conduct are exploited at large. The only protection public figures can avail of consists in making payments to reporters so they keep quiet.

The role that the free press played in the death of Lady Diana is well documented. The role the media plays in the suffering of others who are targeted is little known, as the media typically doesn't report on itself.

From many other angles, to allow the free use of a weapon such as the media to anybody who fancies wielding it, is damaging to society.

And because a free media also functions as a sexual police (hypocritical to the extreme), it has a detrimental effect on sexual liberation.

So, what can be done to rid the world of the negative effects of a free media?

Because many rich and prominent people in the West have been suffering from uncontrolled media coverage, trusts or citizens groups could be established in many Western countries, which could request financial help from rich and prominent people.

In NGO-style, Third World governments could be advised of the many negative effects, an uncontrolled press has on their countries. And potential large investors in Third World countries should be informed of the danger they face from a Third World country's free media.

And other authors could help in the endeavor to debunk the many myths about press freedom having a positive effect on societies. After all, we know that the other weapons-related freedom, the freedom to bear arms, is almost always entirely negative.

US human rights

They present themselves as champions of human rights.

What human rights?

The right of free speech? They favor this specifically for members of oppositionist elites in Third World countries. However, if "free speech" threatens the US, or if it violates their Christian "values", then it will be curtailed by law, or at least there will be an almost unbearable level of harassment by US law enforcement agencies.

Opposition politicians (usually members of competing elites) can advocate the overthrow of established governments or state systems. In their own countries. In other countries. They will be protected by a US interpretation of the human right of free speech.

But if this kind of free speech propagates hatred of America, as does the free speech in many Islamic religious schools, than it may violate US law that classifies such free speech as preparatory to terrorist acts against the US, even if it happens abroad.

Or how about free speech on the sexual liberation of young adults below the age of 18. One would have to be very careful indeed not to violate US child pornography laws, or laws that prohibit the interstate solicitation of minors for sexual acts (and the use of the Internet for such purposes, even if it happens on the other end of the globe).

Apart from free speech (as long as it doesn't violate US security interests), another human right the US concerns itself with, is the human right to worship a god, or hold religious services. The US claims this right primarily for Christian groupings in far away countries, especially if these groupings are politically sympathetic to the US.

The US obviously is not inclined to advocate the religious rights of the Taliban, or those Mormons who still advocate polygamy, or, hypothetically, religious sects that were radically pro-sexual.

The US government's advocacy of human rights is, obviously, hypocritical and highly selective.

But free speech for opposition elites and Christian fundamentalists are fringe human rights.

The primary human right that a state would have to protect would be the human right to live in a society free of physical violence against it members.

And when I say physical violence I primarily mean: murder, mugging, physical injury, physical threats. I do not mean construed cases of rape and sexual violence.

I do want to emphasize this because the US, especially their NGO alliances of Christian fundamentalists and feminazis are experts in twisting issues and highjacking them for their anti-sexual right-wing agendas.

Therefore, if one discusses the human right of protection from physical harm with Christian fundamentalists and feminazis, they come up all in favor of this. And they demand the implementation, no, not of the protection of ordinary people from murder and mugging, but of unmarried women from being approached sexually (construed cases of sexual violence), and of 2-week embryos from being aborted.

Regulating the media

Banning the media from reporting anything sexual on private citizens and public figures would contribute to a society of personal freedom. It would also make a career in politics more appealing to those who have a highly active sex life.

Sexuality does not have to be banned outright from the media. The media could provide sex education.

What ought to be banned is the this-man-did-that pattern because it leads to a culture of finger-pointing.

No advance censorship is necessary. Hefty fines against those who violate the regulations (writers, editors, and publishers) will do the job.

Over-reporting “sexual predators”

Nowadays, any man who is convicted or even just suspected of having had sexual contact, even consensual sexual contact, with a person below legal age, is portrayed in the media as a monster.

Terms like "sexual predator" are no longer found in tabloids only but have made it into the vocabulary of conservative papers. They are no longer just used for men who have abused and murdered children. In some countries, they are common for men who have had consensual sex with a person below the age of 18.

And because the US and the UN internationally consider anybody below 18 uniformly as a child, the distinction between 7-year olds and 17-year olds somehow gets lost (tabloids don't want to diminish the emotional impact of a story on a sexual predator by citing prominently that a victim was, for example, a consenting 17-year old prostitute).

It appears that an ever increasing number of children that have been sexually molested are subsequently murdered, most commonly by strangulation. And when the perpetrators are caught, it surfaces that in most cases, the murder was not planned.

In most cases, a child abuser suddenly fears all the publicity he will get if his acts are reported to the police, which releases all details to the press, which definitely will treat the matter as front-page topic.

An abuser who fears the media frenzy more than the punishment may therefore decide to silence the witness (the abused child).

The media, with all the coverage about "sexual predators" and "monsters", thus bears some responsibility for every sexually abused child that is subsequently strangulated.

The media anyway doesn't play the theme for its deterring aspects, but plainly for commercial benefits. Sex sells.


The BBC is just a toned down version of the British print media. A print media that serves a sick society that is capable like no other society to pursue sexual substitute satisfaction through the media by participating mentally in what is presented as a scandal.

In 1990 one evening, the BBC opened its main news with a report on an unknown stranger who had entered a London hospital through a side entrance and allegedly touched a female child. The child was neither murdered nor raped nor otherwise physically injured.

It may have been an indecent act, but to blow this case up to become the initial report on the prime evening news was totally out of proportion.

Proportionality is important in responsible journalism because most of the media-consuming public is, let's face it, rather stupid. And stupid people are easy to manipulate. All it needs are evil skillful manipulators.

Let's run a check on the proportionality of the above-cited hospital story. Let's look at what else happens in hospitals. "Anesthesia awareness" for example. This is when something goes wrong with full anesthesia. The muscle relaxant works, but the part of the cocktail that puts people to sleep and makes them unreceptive to pain does not. So they feel all the pain (how about 10 hour of heart surgery) and hear what the surgeons and nurses talk, but because the muscle relaxant works totally, they cannot signal in any way that they are not properly sedated. Not even a blink of the eye will work.

This doesn't happen on rare occasions? Just run a search on Wikipedia or Google for "anesthesia awareness". You will find out that anesthesia awareness occurs in about 1 or 2 cases in 1000. Even professional organizations of anesthesia specialists admit to that figure. On the other hand, researchers have claimed that 50 percent of adult anesthesia awareness and 80 percent of child anesthesia awareness are unreported.

Of course: If a female child claims that her genitals were touched by a man, everybody believes it (and new legislation in many countries requires judges to give a child's claims much weight). But if a child claims that it was awake during an operation and that it was very, very, very painful, nobody believes it.

The BBC reported once on a woman that wasn't properly sedated during an eye removal. But it is estimated that in Britain alone, there are about 200 cases of anesthesia awareness a year. Statistically, it happened also on the day the BBC opened their evening news with a story on the hospital intruder.

But the child that suffered a horrible trauma from the anesthesia awareness on the same day, or maybe the day before, or the day after, was not a topic for the BBC. BBC reporters don't go out and research such topics. No sex, not appetizing.

On the Internet, the BBC is by far the one that most often reports on sexual fringe crimes committed anywhere around the globe.

In China, the BBC is not accessible, not on cable TV, and not on the Internet. And it's no loss for the Chinese public. Other Third World countries should consider follow suit. Anyway, while BBC reporters may speak good English and write correct grammar, their output nevertheless is low-quality journalism.

Good stories and cheap heroism

Western media covering Western sex tourists in Southeast Asian countries like Thailand and Cambodia often create wrong impressions about sex slavery. They report as if there were widescale abductions, and keeping sex slaves, including children, locked up. That's dramatized fiction.

To further dramatize their coverage, Western media reports typically exaggerate not just child prostitution but especially the extent, Western tourists are involved. Sexual arrangements including females below the age of 18 are not very much of interest if it happens in the Hindukush and among Hindukush locals. For it's a rule for good stories that they somehow must relate to home.

Here just one example on this kind of a good story:


Western journalists like to do their undercover research into child prostitution in Phnom Penh rather than in Miami not only because of the perks of traveling to an exotic land, and because of the potential to dramatize a story with some fiction. There is another reason, which they share with female child rights campaigners and Catholic sex priests.

Because it's by and large a low-risk venture. It's cheap heroism.

There has, in Southeast Asia, traditionally not been the strong link between prostitution and organized crime that is typical for the Western hemisphere.

The references made to "syndicates" in Western reports on prostitution in Southeast Asia, even child prostitution, are misleading. A woman talking a village girl into becoming a hostess, and a massage parlor owner who later employs her, don't make a syndicate, even if the conduct of both is illegal, and even if they do it regularly.

Colombian drugs cartels and mafias with hierarchies are syndicates. They have enforcement units (hit men), and professional equipment (especially arms). Such structures are not associated with prostitution in Southeast Asia. Prostitution in Southeast Asia is overwhelmingly voluntary, and happens on an individual level. Syndicates as they operate in Latin America are very rare, if ever they exist.

Undercover research into child prostitution in Southeast Asia, and tourist customers, is the perfect topic for cowards in the media and the priesthood who nevertheless want to be heroes. The risk for the researchers are almost nil. Sex tourists are not violent, and pimps are usually womwn without bodyguards and arms.

A US TV-station, instead of deploying a team to Cambodia, could make a real difference at home, where it has much more leverage on politicians and law enforcement agencies than in Cambodia. Or in a nearby American country. So how about some courageous undercover-reporting on child prostitution in Miami or Mexico?

It won't happen. It's too dangerous. Pimps in Miami and Mexico are more suspicious of undercover journalists, and they are armed and have a track record of brutality against intruders? Intruders don't just get murdered. They get tortured and mutilated before being dumped roadside, where easily found. A TV station may buy existing footage offered by freelancers, but no responsible TV editor in the US will assign a camera team and reporter to gang undercover infiltration in Miami or Mexico. Their staff may get hurt, and then the TV station would be liable to pay widows.

Covering Western sex tourists in Southeast Asia is a good story and cheap heroism. No risks involved.

Generating envy of sexual possessions

In the beginning was the word, says John's gospel. Yes, all religions are constructs of language. Constructs of language have been the root of more violence among humans than any motivation not rooted in language.

Words are mightier than swords. Why then do European democracies have so many gun control laws, and so few speech control laws?

Freedom of speech and freedom of the press, or the media in general, are destructive. They are politically destructive, and counterproductive to personal freedom, especially when media focuses on the sexual conduct of individuals.

Because people are interested in sex more than anything else, anything sexual reported on an individual person will be discussed again and again until it gets blown out of proportion. If there is just a slight media rumor on, for example, a sexual affair of a president, people will be more attracted to this topic then to a president's economic policy, even though the latter may have much more impact on people's lives.

Humans are intrinsically envious of the sexual possessions of others. Thus, if a sexual affair of a parliamentarian with a movie star is reported in the media, then this creates resentment towards the parliamentarian among many voters.

To give the media the freedom to report on the sexuality of individuals is an anachronism of the same category as repressive tolerance (tolerance for repressors results in more repression, not in more tolerance).

Humans have sex in privacy and secrecy. And there is a good evolutionary reason in this. Because, as soon as other members of the species see people have sex, or just hear about it, the reaction is jealousy. And this pattern isn't exclusive to humans but observable in much of the animal kingdom.

A wise government in firm control of a country could do a lot to advance peace and personal freedom by curtailing the media, and banning reporting on the sexual conduct of individual people.

The media

Prior to the professional media, the pulpit did the same.

But the Internet changes this. Now it's the writings of ordinary people on social networks who shape public opinion. And this clearly is less lofty.

The success of the Kreutzian ideology, too, will depend less on whether the traditional media agrees, and more on how commonly it is shared in social media.


Legal systems come with political power, and they can be changed quickly, even within a few days.

But not every society is ripe for a revolution, or even just a coup d’etat. Without a change of the political system, changes to a legal system can be frustratingly slow.

Radical abrupt changes to a political system require either external conquest, or internal upheaval with a charismatic leader who possesses substantial political skill.

Aiming to change legal systems is a male public strategy that has a chance of success only under favorable conditions. If conditions are not favorable, it is better to change location.

Legal systems and sexual economics

The "it" is sex. Sure, women enjoy sex as much as men. But they are also in better control of their sexual needs. If compared to the number of men who look for new sexual opportunities, the sexuality of young and attractive women is in short supply.

Thus, the sexuality of young and attractive women becomes a resource that can be traded for other benefits, including material gains, protection from danger, and emotional commitment.

Women, just like oil exporting countries, have a collective interest to keep the value of their resources high, and to even increase it further. The ideology for this is feminism.

Women also compete with women for male resources, so it's not all solidarity. But one may not realistically expect that women are opposed to legal measures that give them a stronger position to trade their sexual resources.

Therefore, when it comes to legislation that protects female sexuality, women are in favor of ever stricter laws.

Western legal systems have long been biased against men. This is mathematically evident. Theoretically, the criminal laws of a code apply equally to men and women. But women can always count on sympathy. Men can't.

And then there are laws that deal with sexuality, from sexual harassment to rape. These laws nowadays may be formulated in gender-neutral language. But in practice, of course, they are applied against men only. Whenever, if ever, men file rape charges against women, it's a matter of amusement, not of crime. By contrast, when men get entangled in sexual laws, it's worse than being tried for murder. It's a legal risk women never face.

Trying to change the anti-male legal bias in Western democracies is not a promising strategy. In practical terms, it's a waste of time.

A more promising strategy for Western men is to migrate into Third World or traditional societies where the sexual market value of comparatively rich Western men is immensely higher, and to leave Western women with their overpriced sexuality behind.

It's standard wisdom to do commerce where on controls the market. It applies to sexual economics just as it does to any kind of trade.

Constitutional proposal

They overvalue free speech and free media. Both can be dangerous poison.

They undervalue the importance of sexual satisfaction. As a biological necessity, sexual satisfaction is not just on par with nutrition. Nothing, not even nutrition, matches the way, sexual satisfaction can confer meaning to a person's existence.

The lack of sexual satisfaction is not just a tragedy for an individual but also a danger to society. A lack of sexual satisfaction not only converts into unfriendliness, but can extend into amok-running in schools and suicide bombing.

It is the fundamental responsibility of governments to reduce violence in societies. The topic of optimal sexual satisfaction for an optimal number of people should be addressed in a country's constitution.

Constitutions and equality

Of course, we are not all equal. Most strikingly, men and women are different, they have different ambitions in life, and their patterns of fulfillment in life are different.

The task is to create just human societies that meet the principal ambitions of men and women. Declaring all humans equal, and giving everybody the same rights and obligations, does not achieve this. Different rights are important to women versus men, and it does not make sense to give men certain female rights they don't care for, or to give women certain male rights, they are not interested in. Likewise, some obligations, degreed by governments or traditions, are suitable to male citizens, and other obligations befit female citizens.

Article 2 of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights starts with:

Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

In a just society, a woman, or the family of a woman, deserves guarantees that the first man a woman grants sexual access to, or, to a lesser extent, subsequent men have serious intentions for a lasting relationship. Such guarantees can either be given financially before sexual access is granted, or they can be enforced later on by institutions.

Furthermore, women should be granted more rights for financial support from men to whom they grant, or have granted, sexual access, even beyond the duration of a relationship. Men should not have such rights.

In a just human society, rights and obligations are balanced well between men and women. To give everybody the same rights, and demand the fulfillment of the same obligations, is the wrong approach.

Laws of proportionality

Currently, it is a common practice that parliaments pass laws after adverse events, and these laws are tailored to deal specifically with the eventuality of such events recurring. Subsequently, they curtail the personal freedom of a vast number of people, even though the probability of a similar adverse event is very small.

The chain of events typically runs like this.

1. There is an adverse event (a crime, a catastrophe).

2. The tabloid media and TV cover it, with a particular focus on stirring up emotions among the general population.

3. Politicians discover it as a topic to obtain front-page or prime-time media coverage, which is essential if they want to get elected.

4. Stringent new laws are passed, dealing with precisely this topic.

This is a bad practice. Basically, it means that the tabloid media and TV have an enormous leverage on the laws that are passed in a country.

It is bad practice, because these new laws are usually not in proportion to the penalties threatened in the general penal code of a country.

Typically, these new special laws threaten much stricter punishment, and sometimes they are even in conflict with older general laws. Proportionality is an important aspect in a legal system. But it is usually abandoned with ad hoc legislation after adverse events.

Many penal codes around the world specify that the punishment for rape and consecutive murder is the death penalty. If the victim is not murdered, the threatened punishment is considerably lighter.

If a criminal code is supposed to serve as a deterrent, then the above makes sense, because a rapist may let his victim live, just in order to avoid the risk of being put to death if caught.

If after a child rape case, new laws are passed that

1. define any sexual contact with a person under 18 as statutory rape, even if no violence was involved


2. all rape of minors is threatened by capital punishment, then sooner or later, victims of rape or statutory rape will be murdered, simply because perpetrators are aware of the fact that they face capital punishment anyway, regardless of whether they murder their victims or let them live.

In the heated, emotional climate that is created by the tabloid media after sex crimes, no lawmaker will stand up and ask for a more lenient treatment of rapist that let their victims live, as the tabloid media would brand such an outspoken politician a supporter of rapists. And the lower the intelligence of an electorate, the fewer politicians one will find who dare to speak in favor of proportionality.

In some countries, simple murder carries 12 years, but selling 100 grams of marijuana carries the death penalty. Rape of a 19-year old carries 10 years, but fondling a 17-year old with her consent carries 20 years, and if the consenting girl is under 14, the death penalty.

In the US, corporate fraud now can earn executives prison terms of 100 years or more, and truth-in-sentencing campaigns make sure that such terms are not cut automatically into time spans that can be managed and offer hope, even though only money was involved, and no violence.

Furthermore, it was a longstanding principle of the justice systems of Western civilized countries that laws are valid for the territory over which a country and its lawmakers have jurisdiction. In the 1960s and 1970s, people laughed about the laws of countries like Libya that stipulated that Libyan laws are imposed on Libyans in other countries, even after they renounced their Libyan citizenship.

But meanwhile, sex-negative Christian fundamentalists and sex-negative feminists have succeeded in pushing extraterritorial laws through the US Congress, too. If American citizens or residents engage in lawful sexual conduct with a 17-year old partner in another country, they can be prosecuted in the US, where actually, they did nothing wrong. And they will be prosecuted even if they renounce their US citizenship.

The agenda of sex-negative feminists possibly is revenge, and the agenda of sex-negative Christian fundamentalists is simply to attack sex wherever possible. They are not concerned about a sensible justice system.

For the benefit of a sensible, proportional justice system, lawmakers should be restricted by the constitution of a country from passing special criminal laws. Instead, they should be required to integrate new ideas of criminal prosecution into existing penal codes. There should be proportionality stipulations in a country's constitution, and a Supreme Court should be compelled to assure that newly passed legislation is consistent with such stipulations on the proportionality of punishments.

To enhance the requirement for a proportionate system of legal penalties, a header paragraph for each group of crimes (crimes against public order, crimes against property, crimes against people) should specify a range of possible punishments, and the punishment threats of all further paragraphs dealing with the crimes of a particular category would have to stay within this range.

Only a legal system that is guided by principles of proportionality is in the benefit of the people, not one guided by the emotions stirred up by the tabloid media on topics that make the press sell more copies, and TV stations more ads.

Shortcomings are also in the democratic form of government which forces politicians to remain popular with a large number of uneducated and, let's face it: rather stupid, people.

The best chance for an enlightened legal system would be found in a country ruled by an elitist party with a science-based ideology that emphasizes personal freedom as well as a proportional legal system, and both in as safe an environment as possible. For both, personal freedom and a proportional legal system depend much more on the character of those who rule than on the question of how they came to power.

Feminazi’s rape

And while for genuine feminists, the motivation is improvement in the future, the motivation for feminazis is revenge for events in the past.

The strategy for revenge is to entangle as many men as possible in the net of criminal laws, police proceedings, and court cases. It's a cowardly strategy, as feminazis do not expose themselves to any danger. They can just enjoy the show.

For men who are prosecuted for sexual transgressions not just have to deal with paragraphs, but also with photographs. They face painful publicity, while feminazis can enjoy in silent.

Because feminazis are many, and because there is a formulated ideology for them, they can pursue their revenge in an organized and sophisticated manner.

As entangling men in criminal procedures is the preferred strategy, nothing makes better sense for feminazis than to have an ever wider range of male sexual expressions included in the list of transgressions, and to have ever harsher punishments prescribed by the law.

The pattern is simple.

Step one is the widening of the legal definitions of "rape", "sexual harassment", "domestic violence" and whatever else is defined as sexual crime.

The laws of many countries define (and punish) as rape what previously was considered just indecent behavior.

A few obscene words are considered sexual harassment (and punished in some countries with prison terms), while previously, they were just considered poor style.

Step two is the equation (by legal definition) of light transgressions with far worse transgressions.

Among the worst transgressions would be what was the traditional idea of rape: a mad man suddenly appears along a lonely walkway and pulls a 13-year old schoolgirl into the underwood where he forces sexual intercourse, taking the innocent girl's virginity and leaving her bleeding.

A lighter transgression by common sense would be when a husband forces sexual intercourse.

Yes, by today's standards, scenario two is rape, too, but there is a marked difference in gravity when compared to scenario one. After all, in scenario two, the two people involved have had consensual sexual intercourse numerous times before. And repeat intercourse with a regular sexual partner would not have been considered rape by previous standards in many countries, unless injury was caused.

The feminazi strategy claims "rape is rape", and therefore 20 years of prison are appropriate in scenario one and in scenario two.

While judges may still differentiate between the two scenarios, the prospects for a substantially lighter sentence in two are diminishing in as much as judges may anticipate loud protests of feminazis, branding them as anti-women.

Feminazi political lobbying has resulted in harsher punishments for all male sexual transgressions.

Feminazis also successfully lobbied for evidence requirements to become tilted against men.

For rape charges to have a realistic chance to result in a court conviction, clear evidence of the use of force or the threat thereof was previously necessary. Now, the political-judicial climate in many countries creates an aura of pressure on judges to consider the claims of the alleged victim as sufficient proof.

It used to be that when women gave sexual signals, it meant they were interested in a sexual relationship.

Now, when women give sexual signals, men don't know whether they are interested in a sexual relationship, or whether they are out to trap a man.

Men, and the general public, ought to understand that feminazis are not interested in improving judicial systems. Feminazis seek revenge.

Feminazis prefer to fight men in court. It's easy and risk-free. Even when fabricated charges don't stick, and a man is not convicted, he will likely be financially and professionally ruined, and sexually traumatized for the rest of his life.

All sexual cases could be tried with an exclusion of the public and the media. There could be appointed observers who would, nevertheless, not be allowed to comment on the case in public. For in sex cases, a public trial all to often is a trial by publicity.

Furthermore, women who file rape charges that cannot be substantiated should themselves face prison terms.

Such a system would likely not only work as a deterrent for making up rape charges, but also return a sense of "situational responsibility" to girls and women: if you are not interested in a sexual relationship, avoid sending sexual signals and stay out of settings that could easily be understood as a woman being available for sexual intercourse.

False rape accusations

According to the extremist views of sex-negative feminists, sexual acts by men are usually a form of rape.

PIV is always rape, ok?

When such theories were first printed in the 1980s, most readers were inclined to take this assessment as "figuratively speaking", and the books just as literature. But sex-negative feminists didn't consider their assessment "figurative". They meant it verbally.

And these sex-negative feminist theories appealed to women who had dissatisfying experiences with men, and whose minds were set on revenge against men per se.

What was once a strange theory, has made its way into the legal systems of many countries.

Not just are men in US-defined cultures drawn before courts on charges of rape or sexual molestation. Many men everywhere have come to realize how easily they could be accused.

False rape accusations are dangerous:

Any rape conviction now carries very long prison terms, often life, or even death.

The interpretation of what constitutes rape has been widened so that almost all male sexual conduct can be considered rape.

Furthermore, whether sex is rape or not rape increasingly depends on how the woman chooses to view it any later time.

Women who have participated willingly in a sexual act but later decided that the further development of the relationship wasn't in accordance to their expectations, have an easy time to claim rape: a day later, a week later, a month later, a year later.

Violent and non-violent crime

This view may appear logical, and when the main bodies of penal law were written down in most countries in the 19th and 20th century, this view prevailed and largely resulted in codes that were proportionate along the above principle of differentiating between violent and non-violent crimes.

But since then, the penal codes of many countries have become the favorite playgrounds of those who aim to change human societies to conform with their interests.

For Kreutzian ideology, this is of relevance in the context of drugs and sexuality.

Individual drug use which does not involve violence against others and does not do harm to others (unless strange cases are construed), ranked as a minor offense in original penal codes (if it was considered an offence at all), but now is threatened with punishments on par with murder in many countries.

Likewise, sexual harassment, even if only verbal, is, when the victim is female, now punished more heavily than beating up a male. And the police of many countries will take much more interest in the sexual harassment case of the female than the physical injury of the male.

Making such comparisons, of course, is not politically correct. I will be blamed for defending the male "right" to sexually harass females, even though this is not what I mean. But compared to hitting somebody physically, saying something to a person which the addressed person considers not in accordance with her role model or finds offending, is either a very light transgression, or none.

Dynamic justice

Most young people, and many older ones, cannot even imagine, or dare not imagine, a world in which they were free to do what they want, as long as the involvement of other people is consensual.

The use of recreational drugs other than alcohol is highly illegal in the US, even though it doesn't involve other people at all. In the US, which likes to call itself the "land of the free", a grown up citizen isn't even free to do with his own body as he likes. While some people may need guidance, there is no point in criminalizing the wish of a person nearing the end of his life to have opiates provide an amount of pleasure that would otherwise not be attainable.

Under many circumstances, grown up men and women are also not allowed to have a consensual sexual relationship. Prostitution, for example, is illegal in many parts of the US. Punishment includes rude treatment by the police, jail sentences, and the confiscation of property.

Most people in most countries would welcome a far-reaching legal reform.

The first principle of a new, enlightened legal system would have to be that where there is no complaint from a victim or his or her family, the state has no right to play judge.

The second new principle of justice would be that if a court has determined the guilt of a perpetrator of a crime, the victim and the perpetrator should be allowed to work out an adequate compensation. Only if the victim and the perpetrator do not reach a solution in this way, then the state shall met out a punishment.

No, the option of an agreement between the victim and the perpetrator will not result in leniency towards rich people. They may stand to lose a large part of their possessions if they do not want to go to jail. And a poor person who receives a very large compensation for having been hurt by a rich perpetrator will be served better redress than a 5-year prison sentence for the perpetrator would mean.

Criminally liable judges

When a culprit has lousy luck, he will have to appear before a "hanging judge". This is a common designation for a judge who is likely to pass a death verdict whenever this is an option. And in some countries, it is an option for a wide range of crimes.

Judges sometimes compete with each other, with the winner the one with the most scalps under his belt.

But luck, or bad luck, with which judge tries one's case used to be an issue in the Philippines, but capital punishment has been abolished. In Indonesia, the court of Tanggerang (for practical reasons, the Western part of the capital Jakarta) is known for passing death sentences when courts in other parts of the country would likely pass a lighter sentence.

And what if in a retrial, the verdict of a previous trial is overturned? If it is ruled a miscarriage of justice?

If physicians make mistakes, "malpractice" costs them huge amounts of damages, even if they didn't have any criminal intentions. They may even be tried in a criminal court for neglect, or for issuing morphine medications to patients who are later considered to not have been genuine candidates for such drugs.

But judges? They may pass a death verdict after a sloppy trial, and nobody can hold them responsible.

That a certain group of people are above the law in such a blatant manner, even though they are supposed to represent the law, is totally inappropriate for any civilized society.

It's about time that countries pass legislation that allows victims of kangaroo courts to file criminal charges against judges who convict people on insufficient grounds, or pass inappropriately severe judgments.


Every social model, and every society, produces winners and losers. Some losers become haters. They hate so intensely that they just want to destroy. The don’t mind if this means self-destruction. Actually, dying in a destructive spree, and then getting killed, may not be the worst of suicides. And it’s not new. Running amok, killing in order to get killed, has a long tradition in Malay culture.

For American Christian fundamentalists, Jesus Christ is a very practical solution, an all-round craftsman whom to engage for absolutely every problem.

Fundamentalist Islam is different. Just as early Christians did, fundamentalist Muslims strongly believe that it's not the current, earthly life that counts. The good life comes after we have died, especially for those who have died as martyrs in the fight against the enemies of Islam.

At the moment they die, for example in a suicide blast, they will enter paradise. And the hallmark of the Islamic paradise is that a man will enjoy an endless stream of beautiful virgins to play with at his heart's desire.

No wonder that with such a belief, young men in the prime of their procreative capabilities queue up to become suicide bombers. If their beliefs are strong enough, they'll pull the trigger with a joyful heart. Nothing to be afraid about. Now starts the orgy they have been longing for.

The US policies of the new millennium wrongly assume that allowing Muslims to set up Islamic societies will calm down extremism. But the more pious an Islamic society, and the more sexual access is restricted, the greater the number of young men who will be eager to sacrifice their earthly lives in order to enjoy the promiscuous paradise promised in the Islamic scriptures to all Muslim martyrs. Remember that most of the 9/11 terrorists came from a strict Islamic country, Saudi Arabia, while there were none from a liberal Islamic country, such as Turkey or Indonesia.

The solution to Islamic terror is not religious tolerance, but to educate the world that essentially, all religions are a form of deceit to deprive them of a good earthly life.

Why we are winning the Iraq war

There is only one pleasure, or happiness, of metaphysical dimension, a pleasure that gives a deep philosophical meaning to being alive, and that is: sexual pleasure. That the US has invented "pleasures" like Disneyland, Hollywood, and the Superbowel does not count. These are just banalities, a shitty deviation from what counts in life (which is why the above typo was intended).

I will also never be on the side of the US because missionarism is deep at the root of that country. Even when the agenda is not religious, the US always attempts to force their moral standards on other countries. They don't even notice that this is wrong, because they are so convinced that their own moral standards are correct that they can't understand that other people want to live under different moral standards.

They never agree to a discussion on whether it is proper that one country, or one part of the world, forces its moral standards on other parts of the world. The discussion will always right away be diverted towards whether their moral standards are correct (and on the belief that they are, they never will make a concession of substance).

There is no point negotiating with the US. If you don't want their interference, then you have to be strong enough to resist it.

Therefore, whenever the US loses a war, it is a victory for us.

So, who are "we".

Militant Islamists?

Certainly not. They are just another breed of anti-sexual religious fanatics. And anyway, they are also not winning the Iraq war. Just as the US burns its money in Iraq, militant Islamists burn their suicide bombers and other terrorist resources. What destruction could they achieve in other countries if they were to concentrate their forces there!

But instead, Islamists of the Sunni confession and Islamists of the Shi'it confession decimate each other in the civil war in Iraq. This so conveniently fits the US agenda that if it were not a consequence of traditional religious frictions, the CIA would have had to instigate it.

The Islamists aren't winning the war, and the US doesn't win it in spite of the decimation of the Sunnis and Al Qaeda on the one side, and the Shi'its on the other side.

So, who is "we"? We are South America, which has never been as safe from US intervention in spite of turning as anti-US as it is now.

We are China, which is growing rich quickly through peaceful expansion, while the US wastes its wealth on Iraq and homeland defense which has become necessary only because the US messes in the Muslim world.

We are also a little bit of Europe, and a little bit of Russia which profits from higher energy prices, and a little bit the atheists, and a little bit the gay, and a little bit whoever else would be the target of more unwanted US attention, were the US not so heavily engaged in Iraq.

So, let them have their war for another decade, or two. For if they decimate each other, we will become stronger, or at least be left in peace. Fools who join anti-war protests, even in the US. For this war plays into the hands of US minorities, ethnic, cultural, or sexual, just as did the Vietnam war in the 60s and 70s.

The point is: people largely make decisions on their "sense" in life based on their desire to be accepted members in their communities. For young people, it is of utmost importance to be regarded as "good quality" among their peers, as their mating chances depend on this. And during puberty and in the years thereafter, mating chances are the one thing that counts most in life.

It's often but a trade off: forego mating chances in the short term, and thereby earn respect within your community. If you are well-respected (for your abstention), then your market value will rise, and your mating chances later on will be better.

Anyway you turn it, the only thing that really counts, for young people and also later in life, are mating opportunities. If the awareness of this connection between esoteric decisions and biological drives is generally improved, more people, especially young people, hopefully decide for the direct route (sexual liberation), rather than the indirect route (conforming to religious, ideological, or philosophical trends in order to improve their market value, and later being rewarded with mating chances).

IS strategy and torture

After they burned a captured pilot alive in a cage, Gulf Arab pilots refused to fly missions.

If Western powers get involved on the ground, and they capture just one, and torture and murder him in front of a running camera, and disseminate the take, the mood will swing in Western countries against further involvement.

Within the IS, it's a small circle that runs the show. And enthusiasm among followers for the religious cause is lower than what is projected. Because those who know the power of intimidation will not play this game only with external enemies but also within their own organisation.

A person assigned as a suicide bomber, if ever once he agreed, won't be allowed to change his mind.

Blow yourself up and die an instant painless death. Alternatively, we could fry you alive in hot oil, not in one go, but slowly, slowly, over days. And don't forget the drill that will be set on every tooth until they are all gone. And don't forget, we have your mother and younger sister, too. Torturing them to death will be good fun.

Under normal circumstances, suicide is irrational. A standard reaction is to withdraw at the last moment.

But under extraordinary circumstances, it's much better to be a suicide bomber than endure traitor punishment at the hands of the IS. And don't forget your mother and younger sister.

And now, go and blow yourself up as you have been told.


Those who hate and are willing to sacrify themselves to satisfy their hate add a new dimension of destruction to human societies. They do not expect any benefit for themselves. But they are not the only destructive force apart from violent crime. Successful men, rich and well integrated into conventional society, increasingly bank on destruction while themselves being out of harm’s way, and they do so for rational reasons. Those who are sufficiently smart, and sufficiently wealthy, can expect that after an upheaval, they have a shot at exceptional benefits, both economically and sexually.

Peaceful change is slow, and those who bank on destruction may feel that they don’t have enough time to wait for uncertain peaceful change.

The necessity, and benefits, of destruction

But this world is not appropriate. This world, and its public morals, are designed to suit those who derive, foolishly, a sense of sense from the assumption that there either is a personified God who will guarantee eternal life to those who praise him and follow a collection of rules presumed to be derived from him.

Or they derive a sense of sense from the idea of an abstract good (sort of a theoretical God) of which they are an eternal part.

A shortcoming of Epicurus, or of the translation and interpretation of his work, is the lack of emphasis he places on sexual desires and their satisfaction. Possible explanations are that either sexual satisfaction was too self-understood at his times to be a topic, or that the topic was not considered fit for literature and polite discourse (as was the case throughout later history).

Nevertheless, from a modern perspective, the essence of biological desires is sexual. Only sexual arousal, sexual excitement, and sexual satisfaction provide a natural sense of value in life. In principle, everything else is only supportive.

An appropriate social order would be one, in which success pays as sexual gratification. Actually, this is the biological order that is in place for any animal species except humans. Because only humans are intelligent enough to be stupid enough to believe in God, or an abstract eternal good.

Is warlordism the political model for the future?

The idea that in the future, warlordism may be a common political system is based on the fact that current political systems are increasingly restrictive on the sexual freedom of men.

The restrictive trends are based on the solidarity of women to protect the market value of female sexuality in general, and the sexual market value of less attractive women more specifically. Claiming moral high ground and an alleged protection of the weak, concepts of restricting male access to female sexuality find entry unto laws and government policies.

By genetic design, male sexuality is polygamous. It is so because the highest propagation success of male genes is by fertilizing as many females as possible.

By contrast, female sexuality by genetic design favors monogamy. The highest propagation success is in binding one strong man as long as possible to protect her offspring.

That the political system of Western democracies puts strong emphasis on males conforming to monogamous standards becomes obvious when we observe what "failures" have the greatest impact on the political careers of men in North America or Europe. It's not how they manage the economy, or even how they conduct wars.

It's the degree to which they are monogamous. Be reminded that the most important issue during the Clinton presidency was whether or not he had sex with Monica.

So, then why warlordism?

When loopholes for forms of sexual contact that are not officially approved are closed, or secretive activities become impossible because society, especially rulers, are under constant observation, any violent social environment becomes an attractive option because in such a violent social environment, control is interrupted, and a sense prevails that anything can happen (also in the realm of sexual conduct). This, then, is freedom.

Warlordism is the fragmentation of countries and the establishment of zones that are ruled by warlords.

In such fragmented countries where zones are ruled by warlords, the upper classes of waring fractions typically enjoy many more liberties than they would in peacetime.

One of the principal errors in current political understanding is that political rulers ought to, and generally do, exercise their power for the benefit of those they rule.

This is, and always was, a lie.

The primary incentive why rulers want to be rulers has always been that to rule benefits the rulers. This is the natural state of social interactions, and it is hypocritical to profess otherwise.

Over the past centuries of democracy, it was easy for rulers to pretend that they were in office for the benefit of those ruled, when in fact, they ruled for their own sake. Because it was easy to pretend to rule for the sake of the public, those who ruled did not see any necessity to dismantle the stupid public dogma that those who rule ought to do so for the sake of those ruled.

Anyway, it was useful to pretend to rule for the benefit of those who were ruled as to some degree, it preempted dissent.

However, the transparency that now prevails in human society as a result of digital data processing capabilities negates most of the behind-the-scene benefits that those who rule were able to enjoy even in political systems that demand that rulers rule for the benefit of those ruled, not their own benefit.

I do not believe that those who rule human societies will ever genuinely do so without expecting substantial benefit for themselves. This would be against the human nature.

Therefore, if political systems heavily restrict the benefits that rulers can garner for themselves, men who are potential rulers will consider other political systems, such as warlordism, rather than doing away with the idea that ruling has to benefit rulers.

Rulers, and their upper classes, have a lot to gain from social chaos in which they can establish themselves as warlords. Because during war (even the low-intensity-conflict kind of war), the upper classes of waring fractions are much less under control of those ruled (whose primary concern is not to get hurt or killed).

In the past, rulers would enjoy the most benefits from being rulers during peacetime. They therefore pursued peace.

But in an age where digital data processing establishes a high degree of transparency on peacetime rulers, and thus undermines the benefits they can reap in as rulers, chaos and the low-intensity-conflict kind of war become attractive alternatives for rulers and potential rulers.

Or political systems develop that afford rulers (men) genuine benefits from being rulers. These benefits do not have to be of the material kind but could as well be sexual (as in allowing polygamy, with rulers naturally having the greatest number of wives).

Anyway, the ultimate compensation for men in human society is not money, and not power for the sake of power, but sexual access and sexual satisfaction.

If this cannot be arranged, then it shall be warlordism.

Taking over territory

It is not necessary to convince everybody to adopt a ruling ideology. It isn't even necessary to convince a majority. The shape of societies is determined by dedicated groups which are sufficiently organized to impose social structures on the rest.

Most people are undecided on what belief system to subscribe to. They can be shaped to go along with the ideology of a dedicated elite, whatever the ideology.

A few years, and sometimes just a few months, or weeks, are enough to totally change societies, if those who pursue the change are strong enough. History is full of examples: the IS or the Taliban conquering territory. The Nazis taking over Germany. The French Revolution, the Bolshevik Revolution, the Maoist Cultural Revolution.

Ideological groups take over, and then a society is quickly changed to conform to their ideas.

Ideological groups will succeed all the more the better they are organized. The historic achievement of Lenin was not Communist theory but the pattern he created for party-building. I am not a Communist, as I do not believe in collectivism as an economic system. But I am aware that well organized groups are extremely powerful, especially if they have a guiding ideology (or religion)

Imagining the destruction of the USA

I am not alone in having no sympathy for the social and moral order for which the United States of America stand, though the motives of the majority of the world's population that hates the US have different origins. They want the United States of America destroyed and its social and moral values dumped not because they would contradict a philosophy based on biological understanding.

They want the United States of America destroyed because they simply bank on change. If there is turmoil, those who are on the top will be toppled, and a new set will be washed to the top. Maybe, just maybe, this will be of benefit.

While one can encounter such hopes everywhere in the Third World, they are, of course, not realistic. There is nothing in sight that could shake, let alone topple, the global dominance (politically, militarily, economically, socially, and morally) of the United States of America. Which doesn't prevent people to silently or openly cheer Osama Bin Laden (at least he dares).

It's not just the populations in Islamic countries where Osama Bin Laden would win any popularity contest against George W. Bush. Which doesn't mean that these people would prefer the kind of social order Osama Bin Laden stands for.

Because everybody who understands the most basic rules of arithmetics knows that when two fight, the benefits are usually with the third. Or, if there is destruction all around, and one can personally stay out of harm's way, then, in a way, one is among those who will profit.

Consider a scenario in which all of the United States of America, including its people and infrastructure, where destroyed in a huge earthquake. A radically new world would be in place the next morning. Many people in Third World countries would find this most exciting. And why not wipe Europe from the world map at the same time.

Never mind that thereafter, antibiotics, and even rice, will be in short supply. All of that would not matter in exchange for the opportunity to live in such exciting times.

Because it is inherently benefiting the poor (or those whose concerns are not represented in a status quo) if mischief befalls the rich (or those who represent the status quo) many people, even in the West, or in rich countries of the East, enjoy hearing or reading news of destruction.

That is why in any newsroom, bad news is good news. The worse, the better. Because that's what people want to read or hear about.

The yellow press lives of the problems of celebrities (serves them right, why are they so rich and famous!).

And for the news desk, it's terrorism, turmoil, and tsunamis. Because in readers and viewers, all of this keeps the flame of hope alive that there once will be the big upheaval that changes it all, and that there will be an end to frustration and boredom, and that for once, one oneself will be among the lucky ones.

Destruction-preluding corruption

Corruption also preludes destruction, and thus, anybody banking on destruction has a good reason to view corruption positively.

Anybody of sound reason is in favor of corruption in political systems towards which one is hostile, for example the USA.

The function of governments is to provide safety by limiting violence. Much of what goes beyond is unwelcome limitation of freedom.

The US is the exemplary country of legislative hyperactivity. Before elections, everybody campaigns on a platform that something that hasn't been regulated needs to be regulated. The result is a flood of new laws and ordinances on any level of government. There is no doubt that no other country in the world has as many laws and regulations as does the US.

Laws and the police are needed to prevent members of a society to physically harm each other. Apart from that, we want personal freedom, and as Thomas Hobbes famously noted: "Liberty dependeth on the silence of the law."

And because the federal US government passes an ever increasing number of laws that deal with matters that happen on the soil of others countries, communities even on the other side of the world find themselves in a situation where they are regulated by US law.

In many cases, government laws and regulations are simply an usurpation of authority. But at least, as long as there is corruption, the absoluteness of this usurpation is undermined.

Like most people in the world, I am firmly against the government messing in my personal affairs. But isn't it funny that we don't have a political home?

Traditional leftist parties unfortunately are also not an inviting alternative because they over-emphasize regulating people's everyday lives, which is unproductive and a nuisance (though one has to admit that the Chinese Communist Party has newly defined the Leninist agenda by giving people broad personal freedom while maintaining a tight control over reactionary ideologies).

I have, for a short while, considered the Libertarian Party of the US as a potential home. But while their absolute respect for personal freedom sounds promising, their opposition to strong or even just central government is illusionist.

The question of legitimacy is of secondary importance. If we want a better social system, then we need men and women (or revolutionaries) to implement it, and to show the world that it is indeed the better option. Anyway, the Chinese model already proves that a country, which is led by an elitist political party that does not rule in accordance to the principles of Western democracy, can be highly successful and enjoy widespread support by the people, in spite of the international propaganda intended to sow dissatisfaction.

Humanity will self-destruct

Several mechanisms work towards self-destruction. Most are irrational, some are predictable.

1. Some people want to die but they do not want to die alone. For example, pilots crash airplanes full of passengers to commit suicide. Very irrational.

2. Some people just hate. They hate other people, and they hate themselves. They do want to destruct as much as possible. Also irrational.

3. Many people intensely feel their low sexual market value. They may react as listed under 1 and 2. But they may also become self-sacrifying heroes for certain causes, and posthumously be idols. If they still were alive, they would have very high sexual market value within their peer groups.

4. Others may feel their low sexual market value and aim for the destruction of others only, expecting that after widespread destruction, they will have comparatively higher sexual market value. This is not irrational.

All of these tendencies are not new. They just failed to cause widespread annihilation because the technologies for that purpose were insufficient.

That will change.

Male solidarity instead of male competition

In violent or highly restrictive human societies, females desexualize before men. If the human environment is dangerous, females never get beyond what in peaceful societies would just be the logistics of sexual excitement: arranging safety, arranging to have economic needs fulfilled, arranging sufficient sexual attractiveness. After that would come sense-providing sexual excitement.

But in violent and highly restrictive societies, they never get so far.

The effect on sexual economics is that a lot of female sexuality is withdrawn from the market.

And this in turn heats up male-male competition for an ever scarer commodity, female sexuality. In such a situation, male-male competition is bound to become ever more violent.

On the other hand, peaceful and liberal societies allow a large number of females to pursue sexual excitement. This reduces bottlenecks in the supply of female sexuality, which in turn benefits a large number of men who can thus pursue optimal sex before a comfortable death.

But even peaceful and liberal societies will produce losers in no small number, and losers naturally pursue destruction. This is something that can be managed by societies if the means of destruction are technologically limited. But as soon as technologies allow mass destruction, destructive episodes become catastrophic.

Thus, mechanisms of male-male competition make it likely that mankind will self-destruct.

The idea of male-male competition is old. It was picked up by Charles Darwin when he wrote "The Descent of Man" in 1871 and coined the term "sexual selection". Men are positioned in strong competition against each other, for one man's sexual satisfaction necessarily is another man's sexual deprivation. Men compete against each other for a limited resource, sexual access to females. Darwin thus wrote of male-male competition and female choice.

The term "male-male competition" can mean two things:

Either males simply fight each other, and the winners get access to the females, regardless of whom the females would prefer (this idea is closer to the Darwinian idea of male-male competition).

Or males compete against each other in order to make a better impression on females, and the females pick among the males who compete without being coerced. Most biologists are of the opinion that this second interpretation (which Darwin considered just "female choice" but not "male-male competition") played a larger role in human evolution.

In the evolution of species, even the early evolution of humankind, sexual selection (distinct from the mechanism of natural selection, the "survival of the fittest") may indeed have played an important role.

And when we subscribe to the idea of sexual selection, it appears to be a necessity that there is a surplus of male sexual desire, of which, indeed, a large portion must go unsatisfied.

In the Darwinian model, the men of humankind appear to be intrinsically positioned against each other (they always are competitors and therefore not inclined towards solidarity, at least not in sexual matters), while women have an intrinsic desire to keep a system intact that gives them choice without coercion (and therefore lets them decide the rules of the game).

Even the current social reality in the Western world appears to correspond with the Darwinian model. We have a womens movement that is strong on solidarity, while a comparative mens movement seems to have a small chance of success.

But while sexual selection makes good sense in evolution, even human evolution, such simple biological rules no longer apply fully to humans.

For humans are beyond nature.

At least to the extent to which we have attained self-cognition.

Evolution, natural selection, and sexual selection are processes that are highly interwoven with the genetic determination of life. The fact that more sophisticated organisms have an edge in evolution produce ever more sophistication (a process for which, on earth, the existence of humans is proof).

However, evolution, by ever increasing the quantity of sophistications, reaches a point when, rather all of a sudden, there is a new quality: self-cognition.

Self-cognition allows us to realize that our interests as organisms, or rather, our interests as selves, are different from the course of evolution (procreation).

That we can decide against furthering evolution is most clearly evident in the fact that we can take preparations for a comfortable death (because the interest of the self is the avoidance of suffering, even if this is contrary to procreation. For genes, this is anathema.

Sure, lower life-forms are also equipped with mechanisms to avoid suffering, as this increases an individuals survival chance, which in turn is beneficial to the survival of a species. But instinct-driven life-forms would always chose survival (even if it means suffering) over suicide.

The degree of self-cognition that allows us to engineer our exit by overriding genetically determined survival behavior is probably only available to humans.

But if humans have enough self-cognition to override genetically determined survival behavior, then they also have the intellectual capacity to modify genetically determined concepts such as "male-male competition" which are based on a huge surplus of male sexual desire over female sexual desire.

To realize that societies can be engineered that allow a higher degree of sexual satisfaction for a large number of men, and to convince other men that such societies are possible, is an important element in politicizing those men who are otherwise just pursuing private sexual satisfaction in competition with other men. It also forms the basis of male solidarity in sexual matter's a solidarity which is currently non-existent.

There are two principal options for creating societies that are sexually more adequate for men.

One option (the more appealing one) is to liberate female sexual desires by removing social limitations to the female sex drive, especially its promiscuous manifestation.

As sexual contact in current societies carries much more risk for females than it does for males, anything that reduces potential negative implications for females should be pursued. This involves the dissociation of sexual enjoyment from child birth; freely available birth control measures; non-stigmatization of females who are pregnant outside of wedlock; a well-developed social safety net for women who are pregnant or raise children (no social safety net is necessary for men); community institutions that can take over many child care responsibilities. A further important element is a high degree of safety from violence. Violence, and the threat of violence, always enhances monogamous, anti-sexual tendencies, and it does so in females much more than in males.

Another option is less straight (but nevertheless can complement the first option). This second option takes into account that women often need an additional, material reason, apart from sexual desire, to enter a new sexual relationship (and may be genetically programmed to do so, as throughout evolution, such behavior would have increased the survival chances of offspring). It's not that once women enter a new sexual relationship, they would not enjoy it more than the boredom of a previous sexual relationship, that has outlived its capability to excite. It's just that for the initiation of sex, women allegedly feel that there is more appropriateness when there is such an additional, material reason to enter into it. Taking the material incentive away may well be disservice to women.

Just as it needs some time to get used to the idea that poorer societies may well be sexually better than richer societies, it requires some intellectual effort to conclude that societies are doing females (and males) a favor by maintaining a certain level of material need. But if we think about it, the concept isnt that strange. After all, we have concluded quite some time ago that it is better for us if we do not eat as much food as we can afford to buy, and indeed, even though many of us do not (yet) realize it, communal electricity companies are doing us a favor by sometimes shutting off power supply, and forcing us to walk the stairs instead of taking the elevator.

The alternatives to engineering societies that are appropriate not just to the female pattern of sexual desire (the ideal pursued in North America and Western Europe), but also to the male pattern of sexual desire, are miserable indeed.

If we let our societies continue to develop on the current heterophobic path (favored by Christian fundamentalists and feminazis), men overall lack sexual opportunities, and thus have to resort to imagination (either by masturbation or when imagining other women during sexual intercourse with a routine partner).

Or men have to go the traditional way, which is secrecy in parallel sexual relationships and the use of standard tools of deception (adultery, promises of marriage without the intention to keep them), as well as the visit of prostitutes.

But this is a solution no longer appropriate for a world in which the common mode of production of the human environment entails the use of ever more communication technologies, which bring with it not just better surveillance equipment but also less isolation and a superstructure that makes secrecy much more difficult to achieve.


Alternatives to a violent future are not very likely to succeed. But widespread drug use could be of help. Marijuana can make peaceful because of its potential to induce mild paranoia. Paranoid people seek emotional shelter. There is a historical antecedent in the 1960s and 1970s. Furthermore, social losers on opiates are quite happy with their fate as long as they are supplied with their drugs. And overall, in drug-consuming communities, sexual market value is less important. Highly successful individuals could derive benefits through personal freedom if fewer laws restrict them. Then there would be less incentive to bank on destruction.
